Terms of use
Plain terms for using this website. They exist mainly to make sure no one is misled about our stage of development or asked for money in our name.
1. About these terms
This website is published by Magna Carter Community Development NPC (registration 2020/538848/08), operating as Magna Carta Social Housing Development, of 16 Invicta Road, Thandanani Office Park, Midrand 1685. By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use it. The Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 requires the information in this section and in section 8.
2. Information only
Everything on this site is general information about the institution, about social housing in South Africa and about how we intend to work. It is not legal, financial or housing advice, and it is not an application form, a lease, a funding offer or an invitation to invest. Regulator facts are taken from published sources and may change; the regulator's own publications prevail.
3. Status of the institution
Our regulatory and institutional status is stated in the dated status panel on the governance page. We are preparing an application for accreditation as a Social Housing Institution and are not yet accredited. Nothing on this site implies accreditation, project approval, land control or funding that the panel does not state.
4. No offer of accommodation and no payments
No homes exist yet and no waiting list is open for allocation. Registering interest by email creates no right to a home and no place in a queue. We never ask for money to register interest, to apply, or to secure a place, and we do not authorise anyone to do so on our behalf. If you are asked for payment in our name, report it to admin@mcshd.co.za.
5. Intellectual property
The Magna Carta name, emblem, wordmark and the content of this site belong to the Company or are used under licence. You may read, print and share pages for personal or non-commercial purposes with attribution. You may not reproduce the emblem or wordmark, or present content as your own, without written permission. The Magna Carta name and mark are working assets; trade mark registration is a matter for the board. The photographs on this site are not ours: each is published by its photographer under a Creative Commons licence, which continues to govern any reuse of that photograph regardless of these terms. The photographer, licence and source for each are on the credits page.
6. Links and third parties
Links to other websites, including the Social Housing Regulatory Authority and the Information Regulator, are provided for convenience. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information. This site loads nothing from third parties; its typefaces are served from our own domain. See the privacy notice.
7. Liability
We take care to keep this site accurate and dated, but we do not warrant that it is complete, current or error-free, or that it will be available without interruption. To the extent the law allows, the Company, its directors and its service providers are not liable for loss arising from use of, or reliance on, this site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under South African law, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 where it applies.
8. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. Questions about them go to admin@mcshd.co.za or 010 502 0108. Access to information requests are handled under our PAIA manual.
